Online Dating

Can I just go on the record by saying I HATE online dating. I always have second thoughts and think, "Ok, let's try this again". It just so awkward!! First off I never know what to write in the about me sections. How do you write about yourself without sounding like a complete tool or like you are trying too hard? Then you need to put pics up on your profile. Of course you don't want to put pics that make you look fat or are unflattering. Yet once you actually meet the person face to face, you realize that those pics they had up were from 5 years and -20 lbs ago. Once your profile is complete, you start your search. I always seem to try the sites for free before commiting to my bank account. Although all you can do is look at their profiles and wink at people. I think winking is a little creepy in person, so why would I want to do it virtually. I did actually go on two dates from an online site. The first guy was super quiet and boring. He did have a nice idea for a date. He took me to the botanical garden in the golden gate park. However, he didn't check ahead of time to see if it would actually be open, which of course it wasn't. So we ended up having a drink at a pub by the panhandle. He spent the whole time watching baseball on the tv and I got tired of thinking of things to ask him. The second guy I went out with was good looking and seemed a little more outgoing at first. That started out a bit better. Then he found out what I did for a living and he insisted that I pay for our dinner since he assumed I made more money than he did. Umm..ok, great. BYE! I should have kept trying, but those two dates really turned me off to online dating. Every other guy I started to talk to online would just want to hook up. Online dating does not feel natural and is so not my style. Why is it so hard to meet people now a days? Le Sigh...
