Last night I met up with a old friend of mine. We were best friends from age 6 to 20. Inseparable for as long as I could remember. Then once I moved to Orange County, we had a huge falling out over the people we had both become and choices we had made. It was my choice to end the friendship at the time and it was one of the hardest things to date that I have ever had to do. We hadn't seen or talked to each other in over 7 years. Then, as I mentioned in an earlier blog, we saw each other at a mutual friend's funeral. I was nervous as hell to see her but we gave each other a hug and it was as if our belated friend had brought us together again. We finally met up last night for the first time since I moved back down south. I wasn't sure how it was going to play out. It was surprisingly not awkward and was really great to catch up with her. We acknowledged what had happened in the past and that we were both trying to figure out who we were at the time. We have too many good memories from the past to let that incident ruin what our friendship could be moving forward. We caught up on our lives from the past 7 years and plan on hanging out more. It was like a huge weight had been lifted and I hope that we can continue to be good friends moving forward.
