Partying at Different Ages

I have come to realize that 27 is so very different from when I was 21 or 22. When you are 21, you can go out every night, get shit ass drunk, hook up with random strangers and it's considered business as usual. That was my life in my early 20's. Hell I started drinking when I was 14, so I was definitely early on the partying years. Now, I am 27..about to be 28 in 2 months and I just can't hang like I used to. For example, I went out last night with some friends who live in Venice. They are all in their early 20's. The "pre-party" was at their apartment to get drunk and then we eventually went to the bar at 11pm. The bar was nice, but once we got on the dance floor it was like a sweat box and drinks where flying around right and left. I almost busted my ass 10 times on the slippery floor and I had wet stains past my ankles on my jeans. It got to be about 1am and I was far beyond done and ready to leave. All I wanted to was go home, take a shower and sleep in my own bed, which I immediately sneaked out before my friends could stop me and did. LOL! When did this transition happen? I think you can only party in bars like that for so long before it gets really old and just not fun at all. I would drop $60 no problem on a round of terrible tasting shots for everyone, yet when I would be at Target I would ponder over the decision to buy that $9.99 shirt. At 27, I prefer to go to a quiet wine bar, have dinner parties with friends, stay in watching trash tv with my besties, or have a margarita by the pool. I don't like to sweat my ass off in a wet floored bar. Call it getting older, maturing, getting set in my ways...what have you. I call it good taste. The End.

Lauren & Corey

In the midst of my disease, I took part in a beautiful wedding for my long time friend Lauren and her now husband, Corey. The wedding was held at Bridgeport in Valencia, CA. Bridgeport is a upscale community there with a houses, a man made lake and light house. Great location for a wedding. The bride was stunning, weather was perfect, and everyone had a great time. I unfortunately was sick and could not breathe well at all. I also barely had a voice, so I could not give my speech that I wanted to give. I later went to talk to the bride and groom privately to say how sorry I was for not giving a speech and I full on broke down. I'm not sure if it was the combination of meds, lack of sleep, or emotions of the day but god damn did I lose it. I wasn't able to dance or enjoy myself as well as I had hoped, but I was still so blessed and honored to be a part of their special day. And I think I hid my cold well in the pics. :)

Here is Lauren with her bridesmaids. Tisha (next to me) and Ilene, both her sister in laws.

Mom and I cheers to the happy couple

Always be escorted by 2 men at all times.

Worst Doctor Ever

Sorry I haven't blogged in awhile. I have been very ill for the past 3 weeks and I am finally getting back to normal. My cold started with a bad sinus infection. I have chronic sinusitis, so I am used to getting sinus infections about 3 times a year. This one however, spread to my throat and caused me to have tonsillitis as well! I went to the urgent care because I could not breathe through my nose or throat. And you know...breathing is kind of important. After a hour of sitting in the waiting room, I finally got in to see the doctor. She is the most unfriendly doctor I have ever met in my life. I told her about my nose and that is bothering my throat. She looked in my mouth, without any kind of tool, and says, "Oh you need to get those removed asap!". Umm, excuse me? She then scared me by saying she was about to grab two large shots to give me and asked me how allergic to the drugs I listed on my record. I was dumb-founded and told her not to give me the shots. She then yelled at me and gave me a presciption for meds and told me that if i wasn't better by the morning to go straight to the ER. I later found out that if she had given my those shots, I would have gone into shock immediately. Great, thanks doc. I went home, and started the meds. I was also taking sudafed cold and cough, ibuprofen, and strong cough drops every 4 hours. This went on for a whole week. I was bed ridden. My voice was completely gone. I sounded like a deaf person who was trying to talk. Truly awful! I managed to suck it up and look great for Lauren's wedding but had to leave right after they cut the cake since I felt so sick. 2 weeks after I started this cold, I start to feel better. Just in time to move. The day of the move, I started to break out in hives on my chest. My mom and I thought it was stress and heat but it quickly started to spread through out my whole body. My mom's best friend is a dentist and has extensive medical knowledge. We went over to her house to show her my hives and she knew right away what is was. Turns out I was allergic to the meds. Fantastic. I then went straight into anaphylactic shock. My entire body was covered in hot, extremely itchy hives and I felt like death. I had to have 6 steriod and benedryl shots injected into my upper back. It has now been 5 days since the hives started. It has moved throughout every inch of my body, and I mean EVERY inch! Right now it is only on my legs, arms, and stomach. This has been quite an adventure and validates my true hatred for going to the doctor.

Every inch of my body looked like this. Face, neck, back, butt...EVERY thing

My Saving Grace

I have had a terrible sinus infection for what seems like the past month. I forgot how much living in the high desert affects my nose. As soon as spring starts, god almighty, my body goes into a state of shock. Sinus pressure, major congestion in my head/nose/throat, and just overall unpleasantness. I have tried every drug, vapor rub, and antibiotic there is. Nothing is helping. I finally broke down and got a Neti Pot. Everyone I know who has used one in the past, swears by it. I tried it for the first time last night and it's super weird. I'll tell you though...it effin works! I instantly blew my nose and it cleared out everything that was stuffed up in there. Gross I know, but it was worth it. Not to mention how sexy I look doing it. Not as sexy as this guy below, but just about as close.

Moving

It's about that time to move yet again. I will be moving closer to work, down in LA. It turns out that I didn't really need to move as quickly as I thought, but of course I found out the day after I signed my lease. D'OH! I think it will be good to be on my own again though. I have been living rent free at my moms house since November and I am starting to feel like a free loader. To start my new adventure off, I have purchased all new furniture and will be going with a new style for the whole place. My old furniture was great for a first apartment but it quickly became worn out and let's face it, ikea is not the highest quality brand in the world.

Here are my new comfy couches. I can not wait until they arrive! I totally copied my friend Kim, because she has the same couches in grey. I got them in chocolate, which is pictured below:

This picture is kind of my inspiration for my new style. It will be contemporary dark colors with a splashes of orange and white.

Here is the first orange thing I have my eyes on:

Movers are booked, cable and gas electric are ready, and thankfully all my stuff is still packed in my storage unit. Bring it!

Busy, Busy, Busy

I just got back from a busy 5 days of fun and good friends! My adventure started on Saturday in Temecula, CA. I hosted a bachelorette party for my good friend Lauren. There were 6 of us in all, and we had an absolute blast! We stayed at the Pechanga and I arranged for us to go on an off roading jeep wine tasting tour. Here is a video of us screaming and laughing during the off roading:

Lauren's future Sis-In-Law took some really great photos of us.

Here we are at the beginning of the trip with our all necessary penis straws.

This shot took us 4 tries. We were all covered in grass stains after this but it was so worth it

At our view point with our jeep. Lauren was not so happy to do this pose, but we made her!

I absolutely LOVE this photo!

After 2 days of fun in Temecula, I boarded a plane to the Bay to hang with my Nor Cal girls. It was great to see them and I can't believe I have already been gone for 4 months! We went to see Lady Gaga, which was an incredible show! We also managed to squeeze in some Jelly belly factory action, mani/pedis, and shopping. Great time!

Current Obcession

I'm going through a Soul Diva phase at the moment. Especially Adele. I heart her. I also love that she is a bigger girl that doesn't give a fuck. I made a little playlist with a bunch of her songs, as well as Duffy, Alicia, Jill Scott, Sade, Angie, and all the other R&B/Soul Divas you can think of.

These two song in particular are constantly on repeat:
